So yes. I just found out why I hate Mystery Incorporated so much.
That being the fact that the jokes aren’t character based jokes or meta.
I mean meta jokes can be funny in their own right. But with this show because it’s trying to take itself seriously. They don’t fit.
In Zombie Island, the joke where Scooby can’t sit at the table is funny because not only does it points out the silliness of the situation. But addressing that it doesn’t work or it doesn’t fit the tone of the story.
Here. In Mystery Incorporated. You just pointed out that Scooby couldn’t stay in a hotel room earlier on. And in one episode he’s sitting in class with the gang. It makes no sense here and they just add a joke only when the writers find it funny regardless if it fits or not. Which is honestly bad writing.
The goal of Meta jokes especially in a serious show is to not make fun of them because it’s silly. But make fun of them because they don’t work or they don’t fit. And again, you can’t tell a serious story with these jokes and these characters.

I heard they are making a new reboot to Scooby Doo. I really want to see it.
And yes. I’ve heard of Scooby Doo and Guess Who with Funky Phantom. Maybe I’ll go see it. (If I feel like it.)
